Traffic accidents continue to be a major problem on a global scale, resulting in fatalities, property damage, and high financial expenses. The frequency of traffic accidents is still high even with improvements in road infrastructure and car safety features. The ongoing problem of traffic signal violations, which frequently result from human mistake such as intentional non-compliance or distraction, is one of the contributing factors. As a result, there is an urgent need for creative solutions that might improve traffic signal compliance and thereby increase road safety. The proposed Traffic Signal Detection using AI based Object Detection Algorithm represents a forward-thinking approach to mitigating road accidents by focusing on traffic signal compliance. The system is designed to identify traffic signals in realtime and alert drivers to their status, particularly in high-traffic situations where the risk of accidents is elevated. This proactive alert mechanism aims to reduce instances of signal violation by capturing drivers' attention and encouraging timely and appropriate responses to traffic signals. At the heart of the system is the integration of the You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm within a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) framework. The YOLO algorithm is renowned for its ability to perform object detection tasks with high accuracy and speed. By employing YOLO, the system can rapidly and accurately identify traffic signals from real-time video feeds. By enhancing the accuracy and reliability of traffic signal detection, the system holds promise for significantly reducing road accidents. Additionally, the system's capability to monitor and record traffic signal violations provides valuable data for traffic authorities, which can be used to identify patterns of non-compliance and develop targeted interventions. Despite improvements in infrastructure and car safety, traffic signal violations remain a major cause of accidents, necessitating innovative solutions for better compliance. The proposed AI-based Traffic Signal Detection System uses advanced object detection to improve signal adherence, enhancing road safety and providing valuable data for traffic management.en_US
